Barton Lineage XVIII

Haplogroup R1b

A Hall County, Georgia, USA, Barton family.

This is a newly discovered line from DNA testing of two males and examination of their paper pedigrees. It is also one of our lines with a single known ancestor. And, it is one of at least seven mid-19th Century Hall County, Georgia, Barton families. Three of those families have been identified as DNA Lineage I and one family is DNA Lineage XI. It would seem possible that some of these seven families were aware of each other and may even have presumed that they were related!

William S. Barton born 15 May 1812, South Carolina, died 5 Jul 1887, Georgia. Married Sarah Melissa Harrington about 1834. He is buried in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery
