BIRTH: From the Barton Deeds in Barton, Goosnargh, and Wittingham, pages 25-93 we set the birth date about 1429. Gilbert Barton of Barton, is the son and heir of Thomas Barton.
DEATH: From the Barton Deeds in Barton, Goosnargh, and Wittingham, pages 25-93 we set the birth death date to be about 1499.

1493: Indenture by which Gilbert Barton the elder, esquire, confirms to Laurence Barton his son a messuage in Barton. After the death of Laurence the messuage shall go to Anthony Barton (brother), then in succession to Richard, Hugh, and Gilbert, other sons of Gilbert. Dated 4 Aug 1493. p 76

Lancashire Deeds 942.7 B4c Vol 91 p 30 states: "Gilbert Barton married to his second wife Clemence (not Isabel, as in Vis. Lancs. 1567) daughter of William Kirkby of Rawcliffe; by whom, who in 1508 (being then wife of William Ireland) claimed dower in the land held by Laurence Barton, he had issue..."
