15. John BARTON Esq

MARRIAGE: John of Barton, son and heir of Sir John. 1323-24: Contract for the marriage of John son and heir of John of Barton to "Katerine" only child and heir of Sir John Travers.... p 53, Lancashire wills.

MARRIAGE: 1322-23: Indenture of Agreement (marriage), John of Barton shall give to John his son & Katerine and the heirs between them begotten ten marks of land in Barton... Sir John (Travers) agrees to give to John of Barton 100 marks sterling .. on the day of the wedding. Given at Barton 21 Mar 1322-23. (Cost of Sir John's settlement on his daughter). pp 54-55

John was a witness to a deed with Sir John, his father, in 1340 and died "v.p." (before parent) before 1349, p. 28.

16. William BARTON

Sir John gave the reversion of the life estate of Kidsnape which Sir John's brother Thomas had, to William, one of his younger sons, in 1349. This reversion then went to Sir John's grandson, John, son of John his son.

William also received a grant from his father 29 Mar 1349 of lands formerly held by his cousin John son of William of Barton.

On the death of William, property reverted to Robert of Singleton and Alice his wife. p 64

He had a dau Katherine.

William delt with his uncle Thomas Barton. He had a dau Katherine.


21. Katherine BARTON

Katherine claimed the manors of Barton and Billsborough against Richard of Catterall in 1370.
