Annual Meeting and Barton Reunion

That’s what our Barton
ancestors used to leave enscribed on the door of their old homesteads in the
Deep South when they loaded up their family and possessions and headed in
wagons for Texas. And now we can do the
same!
The
2009 Barton Historical Society Annual Meeting and Barton Reunion will be held
in the delightful capitol city of Austin on the weekend of Aug. 27-30, 2009.
AUGUST 27 (Thursday)
Start
arriving at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Austin, Texas. Check in at 400pm. 600pm
- Get together in the Lobby 700pm - Dinner at Threadgills (optional)
AUGUST 28 (Friday)
9:00am - Depart via Van after breakfast for
morning sightseeing in Austin.
11:00am - Depart via Van to Salado, Texas
1200pm - Lunch at The Range, former home of Dr.Welborn Barton (Lunch not
included)
1:30pm - Presentation by Karla Cox Smith,
Great Granddaughter of Columbus Barton
2:30pm - Depart via Van to visit Bertram,
Texas, Shady Grove
Cemetery
and South San Gabriel Cemetery
5:00pm - Depart via Van to return to Austin
7:00pm - Evening at leisure to check out
the amazing Bat Flight (Austin is known for this!)
AUGUST 29 (Saturday)
9:30am - Depart to the Zilker Club House to
Begin the Barton Historical Society Reunion.
1030am - Mid morning break with coffee and Barton Treats
10:45am - DNA presentation by Terry Barton,
President of the Barton Historical Society.
12:00pm - Lunch break
1:30pm - Guest Speaker
2:30pm - Afternoon break with coffee and
Barton Treats
2:45pm Genealogy Present-ations
3:30pm – Business Meeting
5:30pm – Return to the Hyatt to rest for the evening’s event.
7:00pm – Depart via van to the Zilker Club House for a Dance and BBQ
(Dinner included)
AUGUST 30 (Sunday)
10:15am – Depart via Van after breakfast for
Church Services at Bannockburn Baptist Church
12:00pm – Lunch at the Church provided by
Peggy Barton’s Sunday School Class
